Pocketry

A clipboard manager for developers on Mac

Updated October 2026

Developers copy a lot of odd things: stack traces, tokens, JSON blobs, long URLs, commands. A good clipboard manager makes those quick to find and safe to keep. Here is what to look for, and what Pocketry offers.

Secrets

Pocketry skips anything a password manager marks as secret, and hides text that looks like an API key, token or card number. Those entries are deleted after two minutes (you can change that) and cleared from the clipboard once pasted. You can also ignore specific apps entirely.

From the terminal and your AI tools

The pocketry-cli tool, bundled with the app, can print your latest copy, search your history and list collections. The same connector lets an AI app such as Claude Desktop or Cursor search your history, if you choose to turn it on. It is off by default, read-only, approved tool by tool for an hour or 30 days, and never exposes hidden secrets, pictures or files. It stops working while the lock is closed.

Snippets

Save boilerplate as a snippet, such as ;shebang or a commit template, with dates, fill-in fields and a cursor spot. See snippets on Mac.
