Changelog
Version 1.0 October 2026 · first release
The first public release of Pocketry.
Clipboard history
- Keeps text, links, images and files, searchable, with pins and collections. Filter the list by type, app or date.
- The window opens next to your text cursor (or the pointer) when you use the shortcut. Choose your own shortcuts for opening, screenshot to text and the paste stack, and the number-key shortcuts for quick paste.
- Pick the menu bar icon, show how many entries you have, or hide the icon and open Pocketry with its shortcut.
- Add a note to any entry (search finds it), set an entry to delete itself after an hour, a day or a week, and see which copies came from another device.
- Compare two entries side by side to see what changed.
- Copy rules: by app, type or text, put new copies in a collection, pin them, add a note, delete them after a few hours, or skip recording them.
- Works with VoiceOver: every entry is read out clearly (never reading hidden secrets), with actions for preview, pin, note and delete.
- Keeps the formatting of rich text you copy (bold, links, fonts), with a plain-text option for each entry.
- Open it from any app with ⌃⌥V, then press Return to paste, or ⌘1 to ⌘9 to paste an entry directly.
- Related-word search, so “invoice” also finds “billing”.
- Preview any entry with Space, edit text before pasting, and combine several entries into one paste.
- Quick paste with ⌃⌥1 to ⌃⌥9, and a paste stack (⌃⌥B) to paste several copies in order.
- Paste rules for individual apps, such as one line in Terminal.
- Developer formats in Paste as…: Base64 encode and decode, URL-decode, SHA-256, timestamp to date and login-token (JWT) decoding.
- Date headings (Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 days) in the list, and drag any entry into another app or share it.
- Paste as…: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, camelCase, snake_case, url-slug, quoted reply, Markdown link, escaped JSON, pretty JSON, sorted or de-duplicated lines, and links with tracking removed.
- Export and import your history and snippets as a backup file.
On-device AI
- Summarize, clean up and translate with Apple’s on-device model, plus your own custom actions. Needs macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence.
- Ask your clipboard a question by typing a sentence ending in “?”, or give it an order like “summarize my last 5 copies” and paste the result.
- Screenshot to text (⌃⌥T): drag over anything on screen and its text is copied.
- Text from any image, and background removal for pictures.
- Copy text from a copied file (PDF, picture or text file), including scanned PDFs.
- Make a QR code from text or a link, and read QR codes in pictures.
- Hide sensitive text in a picture: emails, phone numbers, card numbers and keys are covered with black boxes.
Snippets and smart actions
- Text snippets that expand as you type in any app, with dates (including “7 days from now”), clipboard contents, fill-in fields, a cursor position and unique IDs.
- Organize snippets in folders, and import them from Espanso, TextExpander or a CSV file.
- Right-click dates, addresses, phone numbers and UPS or USPS tracking numbers for one-click actions. Colors show a swatch and convert between formats.
- Shortcuts and Siri actions: get the latest copy, search your history, pause recording and more.
Privacy and security
- History, snippets and images are encrypted on your Mac, with the key kept in your Keychain.
- Passwords and password managers are never recorded. API keys, tokens, card numbers and login codes are hidden and deleted after two minutes, and cleared after you paste them.
- Hide the window from screen sharing, pause recording from the menu bar, and ignore chosen apps.
- Optional lock: ask for Touch ID or your Mac’s password before showing the history, locking again when the screen locks or the Mac sleeps.
- Optional auto-delete: remove unpinned history older than a day, a week or a month.
- “Report a problem” in Settings opens an email to support with your versions and settings, never your clipboard.
Everything else
- Works on Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 14 or later. AI features need macOS 26.
- A built-in health check and a first-run tutorial.
